CAIRO – 6 December 2017: Film fans, international stars and rising talent head to the United Arab Emirates for the opening of 14th edition of the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF 365) on December 6, celebrating and featuring innovative filmmaking and magic of cinema during its eight days.

During its opening night, the MENA premiere of Scott Cooper’s Western epic “Hostiles” will screen, which follows the journey of a legendary Army Captain.

Recognizing the importance of films, DIFF will present four awards at its opening ceremony. One will be awarded to the renowned Egyptian writer, Wahid Hamed, for his decades-spanning career which has left a lasting impact on cinema in Egypt and across the region.

An award will also be presented to two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, who is an internationally acclaimed Australian actress and theatre director, featured in an array of successful and critically acclaimed films.

Since its inception in 2004, DIFF has become one of the region’s premiere film festivals not only for its international reach, but also for its status as a global platform for Arab cinema.
The 14th edition of the Dubai International Film Festival will showcase well over 120 original films from the Arab world and beyond, promoting new talent and creativity.

The 14th edition of the Dubai International Film Festival will commence on December 6 and end December 13.
