CAIRO – 5 December 2017: Dubai International Film Festival’s (DIFF) Virtual Reality (VR) showcase ‘DIFFerent Reality” makes a return for the second year since it was introduced, presenting a new combination of cinema experiences that travel beyond the boundaries of traditional film, according to DIFF’s released statement.

The collection of film screenings will take place throughout the days of the 14th edition of the festival, featuring ten different films that immerse the audience into the film with a number of VR techniques, including 360º, 3D, and audiovisual cinema.

The films featured are from an array of different lengths and genres including documentary, drama, science fiction, animation, and comedy.

The ten films featuring include “The Last Chair”, a documentary directed by Anke Teunissen and Jessie van Vreden; “The Committee”, a drama directed by Mike Samir; “Dreams of Blue”, a science fiction project directed by Valentina Piaggarin; “Leggenda”, and a music performance film directed by Leslie Levi.

Other films to screen include “War Tourist”, a war documentary directed by Emiliano Ruprah; “Sergeant James”, a short film directed by Alexandre Perez; “Bloodless”, a short documentary directed by Gina Kim; “Extravaganza”, a satire directed by Ethan Shaftel; “Ray”, a short interactive film directed by Rafael Pavon; and “Lebanon on Wheels”, a short film directed by Kamel Harb.

Abdulhamid Juma, the chairman of DIFF, assures that the VR showcase “will be a real crowd pleaser”, with its “state-of-the-art technology and filmmaking genius”.

The 14th edition of the Dubai International Film Festival will commence on December 6 through December 13, and will showcase well over 120 original films from the Arab world and beyond, promoting new talent and creativity.
