CAIRO – 4 December 2017: The Arab Women Organisation (AWO), headed by former Ambassador Mervat el-Tallawy, organised a seminar entitled “Mechanisms of Combating Violence Against Women” on Sunday, December 3.

The seminar was a launchpad for “Alf Baa' Women’s Rights in Arabian Legislations.” The project's goal is to establish an electronic database of frequently asked questions on legal issues related to personal status law, family law, political rights law, labor law, social security law and all other fields that are vital to raise women’s awareness of their legal rights.

This seminar coincided with the UN campaign, “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.” Egyptian super star Yosra along with other prominent artists, foreign ambassadors and parliamentarians participated in the seminar.
