“Mastoura’s” director Mohanad Diab received Best Documentary’s subject from Tangier Film Festival on Saturday, December 3 – Egypt Today

CAIRO – 3 December – 2017: The Egyptian documentary “Mastoura” won the Best Documentary award from Tangier Film Festival. The documentary’s director Mohanad Diab received the award on Saturday.

“Mastoura” was produced by the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity to participate in Tangier International Film Festival.

The documentary revolves around two Egyptian ladies, Mastoura and Mervat, who narrate their stories, explaining how their lives have changed after they received the “Takaful and Karama” program – tailor-made by the Ministry of Social Solidarity to help women in need.

This is the first documentary produced by the Ministry of Social Solidarity. “Mastoura” previously participated in Cannes International Film Festival in 2017. The documentary won the Best Film Award and the Best Montage Award for El Sawy Cultural Wheel short movies festival in 2016. “Mastoura” is directed by Mohanad Diab.

The 10th Tangier International Film Festival kicked off on November 30 in Morocco.

The festival’s opening ceremony started with a minute of silence mourning the legendary Egyptian actress and singer Shadia.
