CAIRO – 2 December 2017: American documentary film “The Exiles” will be screened at Cimatheque on December 3 and December 5, 2017.

Directed by Kent Mackenzie, “The Exiles” is considered as one of the most important films of the 1960s.

It follows the daily life of a group of young Native Americans who left the reservation camp in the 1950s to live in Bunker Hill, Los Angeles, California.

The documentary “The Exiles” is based on real stories told by Native Americans.

The cast includes Yvonne Williams, Homer Nish, Tommy Reynolds and Rico Rodrigues.
Released in 1961, the film premiered at the Venice Film Festival, and later on screened at the 2008 Berlin Film Festival.

In 2009, the documentary was added to the National Film Registry in the U.S. by the National Film Preservation Board.
