CAIRO – 28 November 2017: Egyptian musical group Almena will perform at the Egyptian Center for Culture and Arts, Makan on Tuesday, November 28.

This independent music group is composed of five members hailing from Alexandria, who joined together in order to express the diversity of Alexandria’s music scene, playing genres such as Reggae, Blues, Rock, Hip-hop and light Jazz all combined with an oriental melody. This serves as a reflection to how Alexandria is considered a seat of culture and art, a reputation it has held since the ancient world.

The band’s members are Youssef Nour on vocals, Adham el-habashy on oud, Mohamed Affara on lead guitar, Ahmed Abdel Rasol on bass guitar and John Sadek playing the beatbox.

Makan is the place to be for anyone interested in traditional Egyptian music; it aims to bring back the importance of music into the daily lives of the Egyptian people, reminding them of their heritage and how important music is to the Egyptian culture, both ancient and modern.
