CAIRO – 26 November 2017: Up-and-coming playback theater troupe, Khoyout, will perform at Magnolia Leaves of Art on December 15.

Founded in October 2016, Khoyout is an Egyptian playback theater troupe, consisting of six members: Rasha, Sara, Nadine, Amr, Khaled and Heba.

Aiming to present an enjoyable playback style experience to the audience, the troupe has performed in different venues such as Dawar, Gramophone and Kayan.

Improvisation is the key word of this theatrical form. The performance centers on a dialogue between the audience and the actors that introduces a personal experience, which the actors then re-enact on stage.

Playback theater is considered a part of improvisational theater, a modern theatrical form where the performances are based on a spontaneous dialogue, characters, plot and conflict. It is influenced by modern theatrical forms such as psycho-theater and drama therapy, in addition to folk story telling.

In the Middle East, there is a school for playback theater teaching and training called the Arab School of Playback Theatre Programs has many branches in different Arab countries such as Jordan, Egypt, and Lebanon; they also organize workshops in India.
