CAIRO – 25 November 2017: Al Quds is declared as a twin Capital of Islamic Culture for the Arab region for 2019 with Tunisia, according to an official statement issued by the Islamic Conference of Culture Ministries (ICCM).
"In conjunction with the celebration of Al-Quds Al-Sharif as Capital of Islamic Culture for 2019, we urge its competent parties to schedule activities and events for the benefit of Al-Quds Al-Sharif to mark the 50th anniversary of the burning of Al-Aqsa Mosque,” a statement explained.
Tunisian Minister of Culture Zine El-Abidine asserted on the importance of increasing the role of culture, especially during the current events the Arab region is witnessing, according to an official press release by the Tunisian Ministry of Culture.
The ICCM statement added, “It also welcomed the election of Al Muharraq instead of Manama as the Arab Region’s Islamic Culture Capital for 2018.”
The 10th Islamic Conference of Culture Ministries (ICCM) was held on November 21 in Khartoum, Sudan and organized by the Islamic Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO).
