CAIRO – 26 February 2017: Egyptian Archaeologists seek to raise admission prices for the Great Pyramids of Giza and other historical places, according to

.

In his Interview with

Sunday, Minister of State of Antiquities Khaled El-Enany questioned how the ticket price for visiting the pyramids for foreigners is only 80 Egyptian pounds, the equivalent of around four U.S. Dollars. "We are a cheap source [for tourism], in addition to transportation and stay," he added.

The Great Pyramids of Giza were built as tombs for kings in ancient Egypt. They are the last remaining Wonder of the Ancient World.

Admission to the pyramids is inexpensive in comparison to the Louvre Museum ticket at 25 Euros, Adel el-Tokhy, professor of antiquities at Al-Azhar University, told Youm7.

The number of visitors are increasing in comparison to 2013 and 2014, archaeologist Ashraf Mohie el-Din said to

Youm7

Thursday.
