CAIRO – 22 November 2017: Egyptian Minister of Culture Helmy Namnam expressed in his speech at the 39th Cairo International Film Festival that art and the cinema help us to maintain our great values, like love and peace, and to establish the Egyptian modern civil state.

The festival’s host, Asser Yassin, introduced renowned English actress Elizabeth Hurley after Namnam’s speech, saying, “Welcome to the bedazzled queen, Elizabeth Hurley.”

Hurley said that she is extremely happy that she is now in a great country like Egypt. She elaborated that she truly loves the cinema industry in general.

Hurley added that this festival will witness the screening of 170 movies in only nine days, which is a great means of enhancing the cinema industry. She expressed her wishes to stay in Egypt more, but her commitments will drive her to return back on Wednesday. “Shokran Masr (Thank you Egypt),” Hurley said at the end of her speech.
