Biographical drama Lion to screen at Cairo International Film Festival

CAIRO – 21 November 2017: The 2016 biographic drama ‘Lion’ starring Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman will screen as part of the 39th Cairo International Film Festival, which runs from November 21 until November 30.

Directed by Garth Davis, ‘Lion’ is the true story of Saroo Brierley (Patel), a young Indian boy who is separated from his birthmother when he is five years old. As he struggles to survive on the streets of Calcutta, over a thousand miles away from his home, Saroo manages to overcome the odds and is adopted by a wealthy Australian family. Though his life is wonderful and he is loved, Saroo’s memories of his life back in India lead him to begin searching for his birth family in secret.

“Lion” was nominated for 6 Oscar awards since its wide release on January 6, 2017.
