CAIRO – 19 November 2017: In commemoration of the memory of the late renowned Egyptian film director/scenarist Raafat El Meehy, Tahrir Lounge an affiliate of Goethe Institute, will lead a tribute celebration on November 27.

Organized by his wife scenarist Ola Ezz El din, director Nevin Shalaby, and director Eman Samir, the event signifies the memory of the late director and remembers some of his great contributions to Egyptian cinema followed by a seminar led by cinema critic Essam Zakaria.

Being one of the most influential Egyptian directors, El Meehy has introduced new experimental and fictional concepts of in Egyptian cinema.

Pursuing a film career in 1966, El Meehy directed many iconic films such as “Al Avocado” [The Lawyer], “Ghoroub Wi Shorooq” [Sunset and Sunrise], and “Oyoon La Tanam” [Sleepless Eyes] among others.
