CAIRO – 13 November 2017: The famous Tunisian singer Saber Rebai will perform in the closing ceremony of the 26th Arab Music Festival, set to take place on Wednesday, November 15, in Cairo Opera House’s Main Hall at 8 p.m.

Rebai is expected to sing a collection of his most popular songs alongside songs included in his new album, which is expected to be released soon. The new album will include Egyptian, Lebanese and Tunisian songs. A number of prominent poets, composers and distributors participated in Rebai's new album such as poet Hany Abdel Karim, and composer Walid Saad, among others.

Rebai is a popular pan-Arab singer and composer who started his career in 2004; he first achieved fame when he released his first video clip “Sidi Mansour.” Robaey performed a number of concerts in Europe, USA, Australia, Palestine, and South Korea; he also performed in the Olympia in Paris, Carthage, and Cairo.

"Musical Drama” was the main theme of the opening ceremony of the Arab Music Festival. The opening ceremony shed light on the role of oriental music in Egyptian and Arab drama.

An orchestra especially formed for this occasion performed at the opening ceremony, led by conductor Ahmed Atef and head of the Cairo Opera House Inas Abdel Dayem.

At least 84 Arab musicians took part in this year’s edition of the festival, which was dedicated to honoring the memory of lead singer Mohsen Farouk.

Eight Arab countries gave performances in six theatres including the Cairo Opera House, Arabic Music Institute, Alexandria Opera House, and Damanhour Opera House.

A renowned set of musicians and singers, including Medhat Saleh, Mohamed al-Helw, Ali al-Haggar, Nadia Mostafa, Lotfi Bushnaq, Abdallah al-Rowaished, Mohamed Tharwat, Hany Shaker, and Safwan Bahlawan participated at the festival.

Moreover, around 14 musicians gave solo performances during the festival, including Cairo Opera House director’s Inas Abdel Dayem, Salem Abdul Kerem, pianist Hassan Sharara, and violinist Mahmoud Soror.

The festival featured 31 choirs and orchestras including the Ministry of Youth Orchestra, the Iraqi National Symphony Orchestra, and Abdel Halim Nowera Ensemble for Arab Music.

Various iconic Arab musicians were honored at the festival such as Talal Maddah, Sayed Hegab, Rageh Daoud, Raad Khalaf and Amr Selim.
