CAIRO – 6 November 2017: Dan Brown’s “Origin” has hit the number one spot on the New York Time’s best-selling list for the third week.

“Origin” is Brown’s eighth novel and focuses on scientific enlightenment engaging in another battle with religious fundamentalism.

The protagonist of the novel is Harvard professor of symbology and religious iconography Robert Langdon, who finds himself in an intellectually challenging and life threatening adventure. This happens when one of his student Edmond Kirsch, billionaire computer scientist, futurist, inventor and entrepreneur, declared he will upend people’s view of religion by proving irrefutably that life can be created using the laws of science, thus excising God from the equation.

“Origin” was first published on October 3 with an initial printing of two million copies, eventually extending to several dozen countries in 42 languages, according to the New York Times.

Dan Brown is the author of numerous bestselling novels, including “The Da Vinci Code,” which has become one of the bestselling novels of all time as well as the subject of intellectual debate among readers and scholars. Brown’s novels are published in 56 languages around the world with over 200 million copies in print.

In 2005, Brown was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by TIME Magazine, whose editors credited him with “keeping the publishing industry afloat; renewed interest in Leonardo da Vinci and early Christian history; spiking tourism to Paris and Rome; a growing membership in secret societies; the ire of Cardinals in Rome; eight books denying the claims of the novel and seven guides to read along with it; a flood of historical thrillers; and a major motion picture franchise.”

Dan Brown's most popular books are “Angels and Demons,” “Deception Point,” “Digital Fortress” and “Inferno.”
