CAIRO - 28 October 2017: For the first time in the Arab World a program titled ''Oscars Short'' that includes five exceptional Arab short films that made it to the Oscars will be screened on Sunday October 29 at Zawya Cinema at 7 p.m..

''We are bringing you the hit Arab Short films that were so good they made it to the Oscars,'' Mad Solutions, the main sponsor of the program, said on its official Facebook page.

The first short movie is called ''Ayny,'' which revolves around two young boys who run away from home chasing after their dream of playing music. Will war come between their dream? “Ayny” is directed by Ahmed Saleh.

The second short movie is ''Nocturne in Black'' which is about a young musician struggling to rebuild his piano after Jihadists destroy it in his war-ravaged neighborhood. The movie directed by Jimmy Keyrouz.

The third is “the Rifle, the Jackal, the Wolf and the Boy,'' which was shot in a mountain village in Lebanon. It revolves around two brothers who use their dad’s rifle behind his back, unaware of the dire consequences of their action. The movie is directed by Oualid Mouaness.

The fourth short movie is called “Baheya and Mahmoud.” It tells the story of an aging married couple who have fallen into a monotonous lifestyle of bickering and making each other miserable. However, this changes one day when Mahmoud wakes up to discover that his wife Bahiya has gone. The film is directed by Zaid Abu Hamdan.

The fifth short movie is “Ave Maria,” which is about the silent routine of five nuns living in the West Bank. Wilderness is disturbed when an Israeli settler family breaks down right outside the convent just as the Sabbath comes into effect Will the nuns help them? “Ave Maria” is directed by Basil Khalil.
