CAIRO – 28 October 2017: Egyptian artist Ahmed Morsi is running the first solo exhibition of his artwork in the Cairo Gypsum Gallery from Friday, October 27 until Saturday, December 2.

Known as the “Untitled artist,” for his large body of work without titles, Morsi has had a celebrated career in art and poetry spanning over 70 years. His work leans heavily towards the surreal and abstract. He prefers to leave the meaning of the work up to the viewers.

The exhibition, “Dress Rehearsal for a Season in Hell,” takes its name from a poem Morsi wrote back in 2001. Hailing from Alexandria, the city features heavily in Morsi’s work, from both its physical and cultural features to the artist’s comparisons with New York, where he currently lives in.

His work features in museums such as Egyptian Museum of Modern Art, the Alexandria Museum of Fine Arts and various international private art collections such as in France, Lebanon, the USA, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and England.
