CAIRO – 27 October 2017: Egyptian music group “Looperia Project will be holding a concert on Saturday, October 28 at the historical Arabic Music Institute, managed by the Cairo Opera House.

According to the band’s Facebook page, Looperia is a “sound that comes from the heart of Africa, passing through the northwest to Egypt. A blend of spiritual lyrics and gnawa sense. A rhythmic beat with a Sufi twist that expresses what do we feel towards love, peace, god and the garden of Eden... Africa”

The band was formed in 2012, with their primary aim being to spread and encourage the heritage of African music, especially in relation to Egypt, and so uses many musical influences from various African cultures. Mohamed Kamal, the band’s founder, told Ahram Online he believes that Egyptians very often forget their African roots.
