CAIRO – 24 October 2017: Egyptian music band El Dor El Awal (the First Floor) will be performing at El Genaina Theater on November 4 with a modern blend of Middle Eastern music.

The band’s name is based on the location of their rehearsals which took place in an apartment located in the first floor of a building. They have their own oriental jazz fusion that comes from mixing jazz and oriental tunes; forming special melodies that capture sensation.

Established in 1999, the band came together as a group of seven talented musicians and held a six-month rehearsal to build their repertoire.

The band consists of Ahmed Omar on electric bass, Mohamed Sami on violin, Bob, Kajun and Djembe on percussions, Mizo and Konga on doff and other percussions, Nour Ashour on saxophone, oriental mizmar and didgeridoo, Hisham Issam on oud and Fady Badr on qanun and keyboards.

Their first albums include “Qarar Ezala” (Decision for Removal) in 2006 and “A’al Tareek” (On the Road) in 2009.

The band has had concerts and recently performed in the 15th Annual International Summer Festival that ran between July 10 and August 26.
