CAIRO – 23 October 2017: Ambitious young photographer Amr al-Gabalawy, also known as Speko, will be showcasing the photos from his recent project called “New York of the Third World” as part of the upcoming

Cairographie t

hat will launch November 5 at Darb 1718.

Speko will be discussing his approaches in implementing the project, his photography style, coloring, and artistic direction, according to the event’s official Facebook page.

“New York of The Third World” project was inspired by the different cultural background that he experienced abroad. He used photography as a thoughtful medium to express his perception about the capital.

Speko has managed to find similarities between Cairo and New York City in regards to location and gaps between residents. This project is meant to introduce fresh and young street culture accompanied with vintage retro fashion. The artist also seeks to integrate the western community with the Middle East as part of the new globalization system.

Based in Cairo, Speko has worked in fashion, portrait, street, art, and events photography.
