29th International Al Assad Book Fair to Kickoff Wednesday in Syria

CAIRO – 22 October 2017: The 29th International Al Assad Book Fair will be inaugurating on Wednesday in Damascus in Syria where 150 publishing houses will be participating according to the book fair’s official website.

Approximately 100 Syrian publishing houses is to embark the fair that will run from August 2 to August 12, according to Syrian news agency.

This is the second round after during post-war Syria that has been named ‘Continuity’ and will include seminars, culture lectures, among other activities.

The first round of the book fair has launched in 1985 and has been launching on an annual basis until 2012 due war in the country; however was held again in 2016 featuring the participation of several foreign publishing houses including Russia, Iran, and Lebanon.
