CAIRO – 22 October 2017: Contemporary Image Collective will screen the Algerian documentary film “Ask your Shadow” on October 25. The film is directed by Lamine Ammar Khodja and is his first feature documentary film. Khodja not only directed the film, but also wrote the script, captured the film, and composed its music.

Through the film, Khodja searches for the truth; the truth of his soul and truth of his society. The film focuses on Khodja’s return to Algeria after living in France for eight years.

Khodja had witnessed demonstrations on January 6, 2011 and began keeping a diary. The documentary references other popular uprisings in the region, including Egypt’s January 25 Revolution and the Tunisian Revolution in 2011.

The film won the Best Film Award at the international film festival in Marseille in 2012.
