Shahira Welnas Elkhatira to perform at Oufuqy Music Forum

CAIRO – 19 October 2017: Shahira Welnas Elkhatira will perform at the sixth edition of Oufuqy Music Forum on October 21 at Jesuits Cultural Center in Alexandria from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Shahira Welnas Elkhatira, founded in October 2016, is an indie music project that contains a diverse collection of Arabic original songs each with a different taste and genre, with lyrics that swing from romance to philosophy to social sarcasm.

Indie music is not a definite style of music, but most indie bands are influenced by each other, which creates what can be labeled as a genre. The sound is melodic and the instruments are simple but well textured.

Oufuqy Music Forum's sixth edition will kick off from October 16 to 26. The forum aims to combine music with daily life.

It organizes various music events including concerts, discussions, seminars and film screenings.

The forum is named “Oufuqy” because it follows the horizontal approach to give audience the opportunity to integrate the festival into their daily activities, according to Oufuqy Music Forum’s official Facebook page.
