CAIRO – 18 October 2017: The 5th edition of Shnit Worldwide Short Film Festival kicks off at Zawya in Cairo from October 18-22.

On October 22, Egyptian short films will be introduced, such as “Docs” and “Fiction 2”.
The international competition includes five award categories and the national competitions. The festival curates programs presenting more than 300 short films of all genres over its 12 days, along with a collection of masterpieces. As a result, short films call the tune in four program sections.

Shnit Worldwide Short Film Festival unfolds simultaneously in multiple cities on five continents, bringing together more than 40,000 filmmakers and film lovers. It aims to actively increase the perception of short film making by creating a multi-platform event for high quality short films.

In addition, each place where the festival is hosted presents National Jury and Audience Awards in a closing ceremony in each city hosting the festival.

Short films have a limited time in which to get their message across. This kind of condensed work often uses the smallest details and subtlest dialogue to convey grand meaning.
