CAIRO – 11 October 2017: October 11, 1975 marked a turning point in the career of American rock musician Bruce Springsteen, who until that point had enjoyed a moderately successful career with major labels pushing him as the next big thing, but nothing to show for it.

That is, until he released “Born to Run” on this day, which transformed him into one of the best-selling artists of all time;

Born in New Jersey on September 23, 1949, Springsteen came from a working-class family and grew up in a time of rock ‘n’ roll. Inspired by Elvis Presley and his musical passions, Springsteen was in the making from an early age. Springsteen came under strict disapproval from his father, even though he attributed his help in shaping and influencing his music; and he even wore his father’s work clothes while performing.

As the 1960s rolled in, Springsteen met the musicians that would work with him to form “E Street Band,” where Springsteen earned his title as ‘The Boss.’ Signing up with Columbia Records, the band released their first album, “Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J,” which was well-received but didn’t perform too well in sales. This would be the pattern with all their releases until the wild breakthrough hit of “Born to Run,” which propelled Springsteen’s massive international success.

Rising up to the Top 40 charts of 1975, “Born to Run” was what woke America up to Springsteen’s talents; and his music’s themes of hard work, living the simple life and following the American dream helped cement him as a national treasure.

Starting off as an unknown, Springsteen now proudly boasts over 20 Grammy’s and numerous other awards, and well over 65 million albums sold in the USA. His song, “The Rising,” was even performed for former U.S President Barack Obama’s victory party back in 2008, and fittingly enough, Springsteen was the one who performed the farewell music when Obama stepped down earlier this year.
