500 artists celebrate 29th anniversary of Cairo Opera House

CAIRO – 10 October 2017: Around 500 artists from different bands will perform at the Main Hall on Tuesday, October 10, to commemorate Cairo Opera Houses 29th anniversary.

Cairo Symphony Orchestra will perform great classical works such asEdward Elgar’s“Pomp and Circumstance March no.1" and Carl Orff’s“Carmina Burana,”and "O Fortuna."

A Cappella Choir, Arabic Music Ensemble,Cairo Opera Ballet Company,among many other bands will also perform in the ceremony, led by the head of Cairo Opera House,Inas Abdel Dayem.

During the program, a documentary film and archive photos about the most important artists and bands that have visited Cairo Opera House over the last 29 years, will be presented.

With the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency, Cairo Opera House was inaugurated on October 10, 1988.

Other than dance and music shows, Cairo Opera House houses a number of galleries, museums and quarters for educational programs. On the other hand, the Opera House's Main Hall, designed to seat 1,300 spectators, lends its stage to symphonic concerts and performances. The Small Hall (350 seats) and Open Air Theater present recitals, light music concerts, cinema clubs, artistic salons and special performances, according to Ahram Online.
