CAIRO – 9 October 2017: Egyptian underground band Black Theama will perform at El Sawy Culture Wheel on October 20.

Founded in 2014, Black Theama consists of three members; Amir Salahuddin, Ahmed Bahr and Mohammed Abdo. Before formally becoming a band, the group had their first debut on the stage of El Sawy Culture Wheel in 2004.

The band introduced different types of music such as reggae, blues, jazz, rap, and hip hop into the local music scene. The trio became loved by many because of their different styles.

In addition to their dynamic range in genres, the lyrics of their music reflect the thoughts of the Egyptian population making their music relevant and relatable.

In 2010, the band released their first album “Ba7ar” (Sailor) which included 12 songs. In addition to that, Black Theama have also produced songs featured in films and television series such as "Bab Al-Dunya" and "Guaya" for the film “Alf Mabrouk” (A Thousand Congratulations) starring Ahmed Helmy.

Black Theama have also won several awards such as the Middle East Music Award, Akhbar El Youm Award, and Akhbar El Nogoum Award.
