CAIRO – 9 October 2017: Tahrir Lounge will screen the Austrian film "Alphabet" on October 9 as part of the "Creative Learning Program"’ held by the Goethe-Institute.


Directed by Erwin Wagenhofer, the documentary film was released in 2013. It examines the modern day educational system and its impact on children. The film argues that the system restricts creativity and limits children’s imagination.


"Alphabet" was nominated for the Austrian Film Award and Golden Film Award at the German Film Awards in 2014.


Wagenhofer debuted his film-making career in 1981 with his first film titled, "End Station Normal." He is most known for "We Feed the World," and "Let’s Make Money."


His film "We Feed the World" won Best Documentary at Guild of German Art House Cinemas in 2005, and Amnesty International Award and FIPRESCI Prize at Motovun Film Festival in 2005.


"Let’s Make Money" was also nominated at the Sundance Film Festival in 2008.
