CAIRO – 8 October 2017: Uprising jazz band, The Gypsy Jazz Project will be performing live at Underground Cairo on Saturday, October 14.

Dominating the jazz scene, the band is known for playing various types of tunes, including swing, waltz, and sometimes, quiet tranquil music.

The Gypsy Jazz Project is influenced by the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, whose Gypsy Jazz tunes date back to the 1930s.

The band consists of Andrew Guindi, Amr Soliman, Michael Adel, Amir Latif, Ashraf Rezk, Andrew Safwat, and Monica Roshdy.

The Gypsy Jazz project performed many widely-attended concerts this year at several venues, including Room Space Art & Café, Bab 18 Art Space, Underground Cairo, and the Cairo Jazz Club.

The Gypsy Jazz Project is influenced by the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, whose Gypsy Jazz tunes date back to before 1937. One of their biggest hits is “Minor Swing.”
