CAIRO – 5 October 2017: October 5 is World Ballet Day; seeing a special celebration that sees five of the world’s most famous ballet companies come together and perform for a worldwide audience, streaming live on the Royal Opera House’s official website and Facebook pages.

Founded in 2014, World Ballet Day allows audiences to have a special glimpse at the goings-on of each ballet company. The Australian Ballet, Russia’s Bolshoi Ballet, Britain’s Royal Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada and the San Francisco Ballet will come together for the fourth year in a row for the 22-hour stream.

Audiences will see every step of the process, from classes on techniques to rehearsals, audiences, and finally, the big show. Viewer countries are as diverse as Japan and South Africa, and this year will also mark the first time the event is viewable in China.

Earlier this month,

Cairo Opera House

finished its ballet season with the Italian Ballet “Le Corsaire.”
