CAIRO – 1 October 2017: The Hollywood star, founder and CEO of WPDI, and UNESCO Special Envoy for Peace, Forest Whitaker posted on his official Facebook account photos of him visiting the Giza Pyramids in Egypt.

“Such an inspiring moment today at the pyramids in Cairo #Egypt,” said Whitaker describing his visit.

Whitaker visited Egypt after he was invited by El Gouna Film Festival to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award in the festival’s closing ceremony on September 29.

Recently, Whitaker gave a masterclass on September 29 at the El Gouna Film Festival titled, “The Art of the Craft.” There, Whitaker explained how his acting career started, what method or practice he leads, discussed some of his most memorable roles and how he prepared for them, how he chooses his works and what excited him, and lastly why he pursues production now, and what kind of work he aims to promote.

Egyptian billionaire and founder of El Gouna Film Festival Naguib Sawiris partnered with Whitaker to advocate peace in South Sudan on September 28. The partnership between Sawiris and Whitaker will work to empower Sudanese people to be supporters of peace and reconciliation in their communities.

Whitaker is one of the very few actors that won the Academy Award, BAFTA Award, Critics' Choice Award, Golden Globe Award and SAG Award for the same performance. The Academy Award winner worked as a producer, executive producer and directed many award winning films and shows since the start of his career.
