CAIRO – 30 September 2017: “Jazzinio”, an affiliate of Band Makers School of Jazz for Kids, staged the Cairo Jazz Festival for the first time on Friday at the American University in Cairo.

The ninth edition featured this special segment, where children were divided into 15 music troupes. Each group included between four to seven members who were asked to perform one jazz song.

Band Makers is a school specialized in teaching music to children and adults, who learn to play on various music instruments, such as guitar, saxophone, and drums, according to a released statement by the Cairo Jazz Festival media office.

Founded by Sherif Watson, Band Makers has been operating over the past years in collaboration with musician Ahmed El Badry. Watson, a guitar teacher and player, has also established Watson Blues Band, which includes three musicians.

Cairo Jazz Festival runs between September 28 and September 30, featuring an array of local and international jazz musicians from countries such as Denmark, the Netherlands, Japan, Portugal, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic and Panama.

The festival is also packed with activities and workshops that will run in parallel with performances in Cairo Jazz Club, Room Art & Space Cafe, and Semiramis Hotel.
