CAIRO – 29 September 2017: Tom Hanks is set to reprise his role as Saturday Night Live character ‘David S. Pumpkins’ for an animated special set to air on October 28.

Titled “The David S. Pumpkins Halloween Special,” the animated special is based off a skit from Saturday Night Live’s ‘Haunted Elevator’ sketch on its October 22, 2016 episode, which featured Hanks in an elevator surrounded by two men crudely dressed as skeletons, who’s aim was to scare people.

The two skeletons were played by comedians Mikey Day and Bobby Moynihan. Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage will be voice-acting for the half-hour special. The sketch became a viral internet sensation, with gifsets and parody videos of the scene circulating widely across social media.

Regarding the viral popularity of the sketch, NBC and Universal’s TV president George Cheeks said in a statement; "It's scary how quickly the original SNL sketch caught on, and we're thrilled that Tom Hanks is back to keep the fun going,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.
