Cairo Symphony Orchestra celebrates Johannes Brahms

CAIRO – 20 September 2017: Cairo Symphony Chamber Orchestra continues performing Johannes Brahms’ symphonies celebrating his 120th death anniversary. The second concert is scheduled for September 23. It is organized in cooperation with the American Embassy in Cairo. This concert is a part of Cairo Symphony Chamber Orchestra’s 59th season.

The concert is being organized in cooperation with the American Embassy in Cairo. Cairo Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by David Rudge. Janet Sung will be the solo violinist.

The program includes “Candide Overture” by Leonard Bernstein, “Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D major, Op. 35” by Eric Wolfgang Korngold, and Brahms’ “Second Symphony.”

Johannes Brahms is a German composer. He was born in 1833 and died in 1897. He learnt to play the piano, music theory and Beethoven’s theories.

His works have enriched classical music. He was greatly influenced by Beethoven’s music and style, many critics called Johann’s first symphony, Beethoven’s 10th. He was awarded Pour le Mérite in 1887.
