CAIRO - 19 September 2017: Cinema Daal will screen the award-winning film “The Match Factory Girl,” on Wednesday September 20.

The film is about a young woman named Iris who is stuck in a job with no future in a match factory, living with her conservative family. Iris feels that her social life is catastrophic.

After getting pregnant from an intimate night with someone who thought she was a prostitute, Iris decides to put an end to any disrespect and plots her revenge.

The film is directed by Aki Kursmaki, an award-winning Finish director who has had a bright career in directing and filmography.

Amongst his films are “The Other Side of Hope,” “Barzakh,” “Lights in the Dusk,” and “Bad Family.” He has also received several awards throughout his career including Best Director at Berlin International Film Festival in 2017, Golden Coach at Cannes Film Festival in 2016 and Golden Hugo at Chicago International Film Festival in 2016.
