CAIRO – 16 September 2017: Drama/thriller film “Room” (2015) will be screening at El Gusor Culture Center in Zamalek and will be followed by an open discussion led by psychology professor Ahmed Abduallah of Zagazing University on September 29.

Directed by Lenny Abrahamson and written by Emma Donoghue, the film revolves around a woman (Brie Larson) who is kept in captivity in an enclosed space for years with her son.

The boy is later granted freedom with his mother, where he later begins to experience life outside the enclosed spaced he was trapped in.

The Oscar-winning film stars Brie Larson, Jacob Tremblay and Sean Bridgers, and it has also won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, and a BAFTA award for Best Leading Actress, among others.

The film has also been nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Awards, AACTA International Awards, and AARP International Awards, among others.

The film has been reviewed by the New York Times to be rich with imagination and is mainly a therapy film, while The Washington Post has reviewed “Room” to be rich in compassion and humanism.
