MOSCOW, Sept 15 2017: The Russian Foreign Ministry urged stepping up efforts to restore monuments in Syria.

At a press conference on Friday, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed out that one of the urgent matters in Syria is the restoration of historic monuments and heritage sites in the country, underling the need for the international community to take part in this process.

Meanwhile, she said that the liberation of vast areas from terrorists in Syria pave the ground for sending more humanitarian aid.

She said that terrorists obtained thousands of tons of explosives since the conflict broke out in Syria, thus posing threat to the safety of a lot of civilians.

Zakharova called on the United Nations and countries seeking to help the Syrian people to participate in removing landmines in Syria.
