CAIRO – 14 September 2017: The Supreme Council of Culture (SCC) will hold a press conference on Thursday at Cairo Opera House to announce details of the International Sama'a Festival for Spiritual Music and Chanting, which will run in September under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, the ministry’s Facebook page reported on Wednesday.

The festival aims at introducing the various arts, cultures, and religious heritages of the colorful nations from all over the world, encouraging an artistic vision of cultural dialogue, which reflects creativity’s ability to materialize “a message of peace to the entire world,” from the most spectacular of spots and the heart of Cairo, the Salah Eldin Citadel.

Many countries participated in the previous editions of the festival with their diverse cultures, including Tunisia, Morocco, Syria, Jordan, Kuwait, Cameroon, Zambia, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia, Bosnia, Greece, the United States, India and China.

The Samaa Festival was founded in 2008. The idea was to launch a festival that would act as a meeting point for cultural dialogue through spiritual music and chanting, a festival that would advocate tolerance and peace through the art of listening, as “Sama’a” is Arabic for “aural,” Watan net reported in 2016.
