CAIRO – 13 September 2017: September 13 marks the first time the legendary English music band The Beatles won their first Grammy award in 1964 at the 7th Grammy awards. The group won Best Performance by a Vocal Group and Best New Artist.

They won the Best Performance by a Vocal Group award for their song “A Hard Day's Night”, which was released as part of a film soundtrack of the same name also starring members of the band. The 1964 musical comedy film was well received, having been nominated for two Oscar awards.

To celebrate their win, The Beatles performed “I'm Happy Just to Dance With You" in 1965 at the 7th Grammy awards TV special. They were personally handed the award by famed English comedian
