CAIRO – 11 September 2017: The exhibition "Ace of Spades" by the contemporary artists Shatha Al-Deghady and Amado Alfadni will be held from September 13 to October 4 at 7 p.m. at Soma Art.

The exhibition’s name, according to Deghady and Alfadni, was selected as a symbol, since the Ace of Spades is the unlucky death card in playing cards. The exhibition aims to shift the power dynamic in favor of those who are unfortunate for existing in bad situations, which renders them powerless in the face of ruling politics and/or social power.

Shatha Al-Deghady is a fine artist who works currently as an independent visual artist, studying and experimenting with postmodern art by using and mixing different art mediums. Her work thematically focuses on the psychological rule of oneself, false perceptions, and individuals struggling against authority on a social and political level.

Amado Alfadni is Egyptian-born Sudanese artist whose work is influenced by the cultures of both countries; the Cairene street and the Sudanese home. Amado's work highlights the relationship between the included and the excluded, and opens dialogue on issues of identity and politics, by working with forgotten historical events and current state policies.
