CAIRO - 3 September 2017: Egyptian film director, Amr Salama is directing a film titled ‘Iraqi Sniper’ that tells the other side of the ‘American Sniper’ story.

The film is an anti-war response to the American hit ‘American Sniper’ directed by Clint Eastwood. ’Iraqi Sniper’ is going to be produced by the two-time nominee Hany Abu Assad.

Salama decided to create the film after watching ‘American Sniper’. His first impression of the film was that he “hated” it. Salama told Hollywood Reporter, “I hated it so much that I wanted to work on a different version of that story.”

Salama is the brilliant director behind the award winning feature films, ‘Excuse My French’, ‘Asmaa’, and ‘Tahrir 2011’.

His latest film ‘Sheikh Jackson’ is going to open El Gouna Film Festival. It will also go on to participate in various international festival including Toronto Film Festival and 61 London Film Festival.

‘Sheikh Jackson’ is about a religious young man who is in a struggle against himself for being a fan of Michael Jackson, and at the same time wanting to be devoted to his religious beliefs as he grows older.
