CAIRO - 1 September 2017: The 2nd edition of Maskoon Fantastic Film Festival to kick off on September 13 and to end on September 17 in Beirut.

Maskoon is considered the first festival in the Arab world specialized in horror, fantasy, action, science fiction and suspense movies. The opening ceremony will witness the screening of a movie directed by Swedish-Egyptian director Tarek Saleh. The movie events take place in Egypt and stars the Swedish-Lebanese actor Fares Fares.

"The festival will continue to encourage the production of this type of movies in the Arab world and will remain committed to sponsoring this cinematic genre in Lebanon and the region," said festival director Myriam Sassine.

This year’s edition is characterized by a variety of movies dealing with issues related to the Arab world such as Arab Spring and religious extremism in a manner of excitement and fantasy. The festival will host a number of movies directors, actors and producers, some of whom will give workshops to filmmakers. The audience will be invited to concerts performed by composers of the movies’ scores.
