CAIRO – 28 August 2017: Culture Minister Helmy el-Namnam honors translator and literary legend Wade’e Falsteen on Monday.

The Ministry has been planning to launch an honoring ceremony for Falsteen in the past period; however he was not able to attend due to his weak health condition.

Wade’e Falsteen has contributed to the culture scene during the 1940s and has worked as a culture journalist for many years, publishing a variety of Egyptian and Arabic magazines, according to a released statement by the Culture Ministry.

Born in 1923, the renowned writer and translator used to work as editor-in-chief for El Mokattam newspaper before the Egyptian revolution in 1952.

The literary icon has been a member of the Linguistic Society in Syria and Jordan and had close ties with legendary literary writers such as Naguib Mahfouz, Ali Ahmed, Abbas El Akkad, and Ibrahim Nagy, among others.
