CAIRO - 27 August 2017: The opening and closing ceremony for the 33rd edition of the Alexandria International Film Festival for Mediterranean countries ceremony will take place in Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The ceremony begins on October 7, 2017.

The 33rd edition’s PFR slogan is “Cinema and illegal immigration.” The Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry invited the foreign ministers, who are members of the Eastern Mediterranean countries. The round table talks will discuss illegal immigration and its social and economic effect on both the senders and receivers countries. A group of movies discussing illegal immigration are participating in the Festival this round.

The Alexandria International Film Festival for Mediterranean countries is headed by the veteran cinema critic Amir Abaza. He announced that the Festival will organise an honouring ceremony for the late great script writer Mahfouz Abdel Rahman, in appreciation for his great achievements in the art and culture field in Egypt and the Arab world.

The 33rd edition will take place from October 7-12, under the patronage of the Egyptian Minister of Culture Helmy al-Namnam. The Festival management announced earlier that it will dedicate this edition to the veteran Egyptian actor Hussein Fahmy, and thus the Festival will organise a big celebration for the great actor.
