CAIRO - 27 August 2017: General Authority for National Library and Archives led by Ahmed Shawki will hold a three-day-workshop to introduce young people (from 10 to 16 years old) to the Coptic heritage from September 12-14 at the National Library within the celebrations of the Feast of Virgin Mary.

The first day of the workshop will tackle the Coptic identity, culture, figures from history, monasticism, the journey of the holy family and the Coptic language and how it influences the community.

On the second day, the features of Coptic architecture, Coptic documents in Egyptian archive and the Coptic calendar will be introduced; while on the third day there will be the narrative heritage of the Coptic literature and a tour in the Coptic museum and binding and gilding art.

Many Christians celebrate the 15-day-festival known as ‘Muled Al-Adra’ or ‘the Feast of the Virgin,’ which takes place every year in August, and is well known in the public sphere in Egypt celebrated by Orthodox Christians and many other denominations worldwide, who believe that Virgin Mary was bodily taken up into heaven at the end of her life.
