CAIRO – 24 August 2017: A new mime festival is taking place in Egypt under the name, ‘100 Thousand Mimes for Change,’ and it’s opening doors for mime artists from September 6 to September 20 in Cairo.

Details about the festival’s location have not been announced yet; however, the fifth edition of the festival is expected to feature three to six different mime performances.
The international independent mime festival, 100 Thousand Mimes for Change, took place for the first time in Egypt in 2011.

It is organized by Gusour Cultural Center in cooperation with Esmoh Eh crew.
The slogan of the event this year is “Out of the Box,” and it calls for creating new ideas and plays.

Calling for peace and brotherhood are the purposes of this international event; giving the chance to mime actors and directors to introduce their production on stage for the audience.

Esmoh Eh’s mime play, ‘Me and the Love of My Life’ (Ana Wi Hob ‘Omry) crew won first place in the 13th Mime Festival held at El Sawy Culture Wheel.

100 Thousand Mimes for Change Egypt is a part of an international initiative for spreading peace through theatre and poetry, and it was launched in 2011 in the USA.

Mime and pantomime, or silent acting, is based on the movement of the body and signs that the actor performs on stage. It includes numerous forms varying in progress; for example, in India, mime is combined with music and dance.
