Bayt Yaken to work on reviving historical Cairo

CAIRO – 23 August 2017: Bayt Yaken (TCG) Architecture, Conservation & Heritage is currently working on a project entitled ‘Regeneration of Historical Cairo’ through an exhibition displaying an array of projects at TCG headquarters in El Darb El Ahmar on Tuesday.

The projects are carried out by students from Al Azhar University among others. Head of the Architecture Department in Monufiya University, Alaa Olwy, has facilitated a seminar explaining the renovation experience of historical Cairo, including places such as Bayt Yaken.

The seminar also tackled several projects that are being developed in Cairo by the governorate and Ministry of Endowments including El Mansterly historical building that will be turned into a touristic/cultural destination, according to a released statement by TCG.

On the sidelines of the seminar, the Director of the Japan Office for Science Dissemination in Cairo, Dr. Naoko Fukami, presented a joint project with the Friends of Historic and Public Parks Association to encourage the community around Bayt Yaken to preserve and cherish their heritage. Dr. Fukami explained Japan’s experience in preserving the urban heritage of historical cities with the Egyptian side which expressed interest in promoting cooperation in preserving and reviving the historical city of Cairo,
