CAIRO – 21 August 2017: The closing ceremony of the 53rd edition of the International Festival of Carthage, titled ‘Fann Tounes’ (Music of Tunisia), took place on Sunday, August 20. The Festival ended its shows with an Indian music and dance performance named ‘Baharaty 2 - In the Palace of Illusions.’

The Indian show witnessed the attendance of a large number of audiences.

‘Baharaty 2’ was a fascinating, massive show that witnessed the participation of about 40 professional dancers. The Indian show includes musical dances that were characterized by agility, rhythm and harmony between all the dancers.

‘Baharaty 2’ show revolves around two sisters who both started a journey from France to Bombay but were separated by fate. The opening ceremony of the Festival took place on July 13, 2017 to celebrate the 60 years of the Tunisian music at the Roman Theatre of Carthage.

Lots of stars such as Sherein Abdel Wahab, Nancy Ajram, Nassif Zeytoun, Amany El Sewisy and Sofia Sadek participated in the Festival alongside many other foreign stars.

The concerts of the Festival included as well the American show ‘Postmodern Jukebox,’ ‘Sokarat’ a show by the Tunisian singer Dorsaf El Hamdani and Iranian singer Aida Noursat, and a show by children; ‘La Reine des Neiges L’aventure Continue.’

The International Festival of Carthage includes jazz and folk music, theatres, films and ballet. It was founded in 1963 by the Tunisian Ministry of Cultural Affairs to produce foreign production in Tunisia and to spread the Tunisian culture in the West.
