CAIRO – 20 August 2017: The Palestinian movie, ‘The Time that Remains’(Al- Zaman El Baqi),will screen in the Arab Film Festival, Berlin, on August 20.

The movie is written and directed by Elia Suleiman. It was released in 2009.
It depicts Palestinian residents in Israel, after the Israeli occupation, shedding light on changes in the Palestinian society since 1984 in a semi biographical style.

Suleiman discusses the state of Palestinians’ affairs that are still living in their land, and their relations with Israel in a black comedy framework.

Resistance and war, Israeli violent acts against the Palestinians, and taking lands by force are the main ideas of the movie.

Describing the Palestinian Catastrophe (An-Nakba) through a social human perspective is the message of the movie.

‘The Time that Remains’ is the final part of Sulaiman’s trilogy, highlighting the Palestinian reality in cinema.

‘Chronicle of a Disappearance’ (Segel Ekhtefaa) (1996) and ‘Divine Intervention’ (Yad Elaheia) (2002) are the previous parts of Suleiman’s trilogy.

Suleiman is one of the legendary Palestinian directors who manage to transform the image of Palestine in the international cinema.

In 2009, ‘The Time That Remains’ competed in Cannes Film Festival. It was also awarded the Jury Grand Prize in Asia Pacific Screen Awards.

The movie was also screened at Toronto International Film Festival in 2009.
Five countries participated in producing this movie: Palestine, UK, Belgium, Italy and France.
