Alexandria Festival to dedicate next round to Hussein Fahmy

Cairo - 19 August 2017: The 33rd edition of the Alexandria International Film Festival for Mediterranean countries will dedicate this round to the veteran Egyptian actor Hussein Fahmy.

The Festival which will start from October 7-12 will organise a big festivity for the great actor. Alexandria International Film Festival organiser chose Fahmy for his great contribution to cinema over many years. Fahmy presented throughout his career dozens of feature films, most of them are considered classics in Egyptian and Arab cinema, in addition to plenty of television series and theatre performances including "Ahlan Ya bkawat", which achieved the highest revenues in the history of National Theatre.

‘’The Festival management was keen to dedicate this edition to the great actor Hussein Fahmy as recognition by the festival to the vital role played by Fahmy in the history of Egyptian cinema in addition to the essential role he played as the former head of the Cairo International Film Festival,’’ said El Amir Abaza, the festival head.

The festival is scheduled to organize a big festivity that will last for three days to honour Fahmy in the presence of a large number of his colleagues, friends and the most prominent filmmakers in Egypt and the Mediterranean countries. The Festival will also showcase a documentary film about Fahmy’s career followed by a symposium to talk about the most important stages in his career.

Fahmy will be granted the festival round’s flag in the opening ceremony. The Festival management will also organise a program to display Fahmy’s movies translated to English for the foreign guests at the festival.
