Alternative/indie music band ‘Hawas’ to perform in August

CAIRO – 16 August 2017 : Independent alternative music band Hawas will perform live at al-Genaina Theater on August 31, coming as part of al-Genaina Theater monthly program.
Founded from by a group of musicians in 2014, almost five of the members in Hawas are members of the trending underground band ‘al-Maghana Khana.’

Managing to release two short albums in 2015 including ‘Like Winter’ and ‘Hawas,’ the band is comprised of lead vocalist Mahmoud Khateeb, Marawan Fawzi on accordion, Amir Rasmy on keyboard, Hisham Anas on Oud, al-Moaataz Bellah Moussa on lead guitar, Mahmoud Waly on bass guitar, Ahmed Tito on drums, and Bouda Aboul Yazeed on percussions .

Performing Indie music, the band has successfully performed a number of concerts including their live performance that will take place a al-Genaina Theater.

Hawas has previously performed at the ongoing festival of the International Bibliotheca Alexandria (BA) Arts Center on July 16. The festival is running between July 10 and August 26.

The International Summer Festival is a big music and arts festival organized by the BA Arts Center with the aim of adding a “colorful taste” to Alexandria’s summer, as its mission statement says. It attracts a wide audience by combining Egyptian classical art and new art and music multimedia. The 2017 edition will present 60 artistic events including music, theatre, cinema and dance.
